I was using Textra and everything was just fine. You need to provide more detailed info, like which Android version you use and phone model. Is this just a textra notification problem or you can't get any notification at all? If I were you I would started with checking Notify settings and check if test is working when you set up Textra notification. Have you turned off default sms app or you have both?

latest lineage on a redmi note 4x and the only one not working its textra, test is working, no other sms app
